Bats in Sacral Architecture

During the 8th European Bat Research Symposium, held in Kraków during August 1999 a Round Table Discussion was held on 25 August at 2005h-2115h. The objectives of the meeting was to assess the need for a network/forum/working group on bats in European churches.

The basic aspects discussed at this meeting were:

• Establishment of a European Network
• Exchange knowledge amongst bat workers
• Establish national networks
• Assess the situation in Europe by compiling national status reports
• Work with church authorities on a local scale in cooperation with a.o. schools, historical organizations etc.
• European booklet on bats in churches

The Forum has 36 associates as listed below. Anyone working on bats in churches are welcome to the working group. An internal newsletter (Templum Chiropterarum) has been distributed. Most of the dialogue and communication between the members of the working group is done via the newsgroup Templum.
